Fall Fest

At this year's Fall Fest at LSU, Kari and Patrick raced a solar powered car.  They won and got a free battery-powered fan as a prize.

"Ode to Spot"

My song "Ode to Spot," based on Data's poetry recital on Star Trek: The Next Generation, was played on the Dr. Demento Show today.  This is the fifth time my music has been played on his show.

Hurricane Isaac

We just recently had a visit from Hurricane Isaac.  Actually, by time it got to us in Baton Rouge it was downgraded to a tropical storm.  It blew things around but didn't cause too much damage to campus.

Natural Rock Bridge - Clinton, Arkansas

On our way back to Baton Rouge from Missouri, we stopped in Clinton, Arkansas to see the natural rock bridge.  It was a really pretty area.

Freedom Mile

I ran the Freedom Mile this morning in Baton Rouge.  I got third place in my age bracket with a time of 7:17 - a new personal record.

 

Disney World

We went to Disney World and had a really fun time.  It was Star Wars weekend, so it was a special treat for me!  Although, I think Holly was just as excited as she rode Star Tours ten times!

New Orleans Musicology/Theory Colloquium

I  presented a paper on "Cultural/geographic signifiers" at the New Orleans Musicology/Theory Colloquium.  It went very well.
