Symphony No. 1 - "Eustace the Monk"

I just finished the first full draft of my Symphony No. 1.  It is based on the medieval legend of Eustace the Monk.  The legend is based on the historical figure of Eustace Busket, who was an outlaw and pirate, but the legend claims that Eustace was in league with the devil and used magical powers to deceive.


Northeast Music Cognition Group - Boston

I recently traveled to Boston for the Northeast Music Cognition Group meeting, where I presented research on musical ear training.  It was a quick trip, but I did have time to stop by Cheers while I was there!

I recently attended the Society for Music Theory annual meeting in New Orleans.  I learned lots of interesting stuff and I presented a paper at the Graduate Student Workshop on rock music.

LSU Safety Fair

LSU had a safety fair with the fire department, police department, and other Baton Rouge service people.  Holly got to sit in the police helicopter and a fire truck and got to pet the police horses.



 

Star Wars at Books a Million

They had a Star Wars event at Books a Million this weekend.  Holly had fun meeting the characters.

At this year's Fall Fest at LSU, Kari and Patrick raced a solar powered car.  They won and got a free battery-powered fan as a prize.

"Ode to Spot"

My song "Ode to Spot," based on Data's poetry recital on Star Trek: The Next Generation, was played on the Dr. Demento Show today.  This is the fifth time my music has been played on his show.
