Meeting "Weird Al" Yankovic

We went to Weird Al's book signing in Houston last month.  I got to briefly chat with Al as he signed my books.  I gave him a copy of my dissertation, which included a chapter devoted to him and I gave him a CD of my songs that have been on the Dr. Demento Show.

Stennis Space Center

NASA's biggest rocket testing facility is right across the border in Mississippi.  We went last weekend and we got to meet Fred Haise, an astronaut from Apollo 13.

Symphony No. 1 - "Eustace the Monk"

I just finished the first full draft of my Symphony No. 1.  It is based on the medieval legend of Eustace the Monk.  The legend is based on the historical figure of Eustace Busket, who was an outlaw and pirate, but the legend claims that Eustace was in league with the devil and used magical powers to deceive.

Northeast Music Cognition Group - Boston

I recently traveled to Boston for the Northeast Music Cognition Group meeting, where I presented research on musical ear training.  It was a quick trip, but I did have time to stop by Cheers while I was there!

LSU Safety Fair

LSU had a safety fair with the fire department, police department, and other Baton Rouge service people.  Holly got to sit in the police helicopter and a fire truck and got to pet the police horses.
