Symphony No. 1 - "Eustace the Monk"

I just finished the first full draft of my Symphony No. 1.  It is based on the medieval legend of Eustace the Monk.  The legend is based on the historical figure of Eustace Busket, who was an outlaw and pirate, but the legend claims that Eustace was in league with the devil and used magical powers to deceive.

Northeast Music Cognition Group - Boston

I recently traveled to Boston for the Northeast Music Cognition Group meeting, where I presented research on musical ear training.  It was a quick trip, but I did have time to stop by Cheers while I was there!

Hurricane Isaac

We just recently had a visit from Hurricane Isaac.  Actually, by time it got to us in Baton Rouge it was downgraded to a tropical storm.  It blew things around but didn't cause too much damage to campus.

Insectarium

Yesterday we visited the Insectarium in New Orleans.  I'm not a big fan of bugs but it was pretty interesting.
We had lunch at Deanie's Seafood.

A large butterfly model at the insectarium.

A New Orleans termite funeral.

Kari, Holly, and Patrick watching the love bug video.

There were many colorful butterflies displayed under glass.

On the Riverwalk we saw a Holocaust Memorial.
